Kristina J wearing a similar color combination and I've been non stop trying to recreate it in my closet. This skirt is turning out to be super versatile and I can think of at least five other ways I want to wear it right away but I will limit myself to not wearing it more than once a week! My other most favorite item right now is my navy cardigan. I can't get enough navy lately.
Anyway back to this skirt. I got it via ThredUP. It's Limited and it was brand new with tags still on it. ThredUP was running a 40% off deal so it was a steal. I also got a J Crew Factory brown eyelet skirt. I've never shopped on ThredUP before and it was hard narrowing down all the great choices. I do feel like the prices are a tad bit on the high side for a second hand store but the selection is great and it was nice to be able to browse from the comfort of my couch for my size instead of sifting through the racks at the thrift store. I browsed on my computer but I made sure to order on my phone app because then they offer free return shipping which takes the pressure out of not liking what you order. It worked out really well for me because I ordered a skirt and pair of pants that were way too small and I was able to return them at no cost to me.
The other amazing thing is that they carry kids clothes. I got a whole bunch of stuff for Lincoln for the fall. I was super pleased with what I got for him. I had so much fun picking it out with Mike's help. It was hard not to buy everything for him :) I will definitely use ThredUP again but I'll keep my eye out for a coupon code before I order. If you haven't used ThredUP yet you can get a credit for signing up through my link and I will get a credit too. Win win!

There is a lot going on in my garden right now. I didn’t realize how much was blooming until I started editing the pictures for this post. Summer starts my long bloomers. The purple coneflower and black eyed Susan will be blooming through August. Speaking of long bloom times, my lilies are amazing this summer. They have so many buds on them and have been blooming longer than ever before.
We put some annuals in the ground this year and they aren’t doing that well. We never have much luck with annuals in the ground and I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong. Not enough sun, not enough fertilizer? At least my perennials are having a fantastic year and keeping the garden colorful all season long.
My veggie garden is growing well but not producing a whole lot yet. I did pick some green beans the other day and there are lots more growing. I grew a new variety of zucchini that is taking over the entire bed but I have yet to pick a zucchini from it yet. There are a couple of baby zucchinis but for the amount of room it takes up I should have picked something from it by now. There are lots of tomatoes on the vine but no red ones yet. Tomato and zucchini explosion is on the way so we better start thinking of ways to eat them…
Black eyed Susan
Drumstick allium (same one as the previous two pictures only two weeks later)

Cardigan- Modcloth, Tank- Ann Taylor Loft, Jeans- Ann Taylor Loft, Shoes- Target, Necklace- Ten Thousand Villages
I was getting dressed for work the other day and I contemplated wearing long sleeves and pants to work because I knew I was going to be cold. This is July and I was worried about freezing at work all day. Wearing short sleeves at the office in summer is pretty much unheard of for me. I always have a cardigan on over my dresses and short sleeve tops because frankly I can’t handle the air conditioning. Summer layers are great for me because the second I step out into the sweltering parking lot and car I can peel off my inside layers and actually enjoy the warmth of the sun.
Don’t call this a complaint though because even if I have to dress for preventing becoming a popsicle at work I am thankful that I don’t have to work outside in the heat!

Lincoln turned eight months old on Monday and he is definitely not a little baby anymore. Now that he has learned how to crawl he is all over the place and touching everything. He won't sit up for very long before he tips over onto his belly in search of something to feel. He likes to open and close the drawer in the kitchen, the gate in the kitchen doorway and the dog cage door. He also has developed quite a liking to all of Abby's dog toys and they all seem to be more interesting than his own.
Which leads to his very fitting nickname from Mike which is puppy dog. He really nicknamed him that because we started feeding Lincoln off of our plates for meals and now he wants everything we are eating or drinking. So he begs like a puppy dog :) He has gotten pretty good at chewing food up with his four front teeth or gumming it with his gums. If he has trouble chewing something though he will hold on to it in his mouth like a chipmunk forever. Some foods he really enjoys are tomatoes and pasta but he hasn't turned anything down yet that I've given him.
He is getting a lot better at picking food up with his fingers. At first he wanted me to put everything in his mouth but now he wants to take it from me and try to feed himself. We are still feeding him purees but have mostly switched to the pouches because he can hold them and suck them out all by himself. Mike taught him to do it and I was pretty impressed that Lincoln picked it up so quickly. If I try to feed him baby food when we are eating though he pretty much wants nothing to do with it because he knows we have the good stuff on our plates!
Lincoln is also babbling up a storm and his communication is starting to actually mean something. He has a specific noise he makes when you are eating something he wants. He has also said both dada and mama and usually seems to say them when he wants or sees Mike or I. It doesn't happen all the time but it's happening more frequently. The other night I was holding him and I asked him where dada was and he turned and looked at Mike and smiled. He did it twice so I know he understood me. If you call his name he will turn and look even if it doesn't always deter him from the mischief he is about to get into.
We graduated to the big tub and Lincoln is loving it. He loves to splash in the water and it's so much easier to bathe him now. I didn't realize how small the baby tub had gotten and how well he would do in the regular bath. We put his bath toys in the water and he loves to play with them. I think he could just sit in there playing all night.
I love how our little boy is growing up and I still am amazed at how much he changes every week!

I ordered a pair of my new favorite Target pants online and of course I had to immediately wear them to work even though I had a closet full of outfits I planned out. (Ironically I've wore none of them because it's be unseasonable chilly this week.) I had in my mind that I wanted to wear them with blue and this outfit was born. When I put it on I felt very preppy even though I have worn a similar combination tons of times. Maybe it was the longer length cardigan that made me feel that way. I don't know but I liked it. A little cobalt always brightens the day.
I'm still on the hunt for some new work shoes. I ordered some from Kohl's and was super disappointed with the fit. The flats were enormous and the heels were too tight even though they were the same size and the same brand. So clearly they are going back.
Target is having a sale on their shoes this week so I'm going to order a couple of pairs from there. My favorite flats in the world from when I was pregnant are now worn out beyond belief and they are currently on clearance and still in my size. Hooray! I also am eyeing up a pair of wedge sandals that I will try out too. No matter what I do I always go back to Target to buy my favorite pieces. It's like they design everything with me in mind.

We celebrated Lincoln's first fourth of July by going to a bbq at his gram's house. Mike cooked up some sausages and we ate tons of yummy food. Lincoln fit into his festive onesie (yeah) and kept it reasonable clean for at least half the day. Then I switched him into a equally festive blue, white and red shirt.
We opted not to watch any fireworks because we weren't sure how Lincoln would feel about the loud noises. Plus fireworks don't go up until way past his bedtime and our sweet boy turns into a gremlin if he's up too late :) Maybe we'll try next year.
On Sunday we went for a walk in the Metro Parks and stopped at a local farm called Szalay's. They have a produce market and on the weekends they have open a couple of food stands. Mike and I ate salmon burgers, Lincoln got some of the bun and then we shared an ice cream fruit sundae. Lincoln got a taste and went crazy for it. He wasn't so sure about the cold sensation since he doesn't like cold food but he sure did love the taste. He ended up snatching the spoon away from me and wouldn't let go of it until I pried it out of his hands when we were leaving.
Lincoln's exciting skill for the weekend was learning how to crawl. He's not up on his knees yet but he pulls himself forward with his arms while pushing himself with his toes. He's been working on it for about a week but he really mastered it over the weekend and let me say that Mike and I are in big trouble! Lincoln's new favorite things are cords, drawers, cabinet doors, cords and cords. Did I mention cords? He has pretty much found all the cords in our living room and he knows where they are now. If you turn your back for one second he is on his way to seek out the cords.
The bowl of dog water was also a recent discovery. He has a great time splashing all the water out of it and looking at himself in the reflection of the metal bowl. Mike and I just watched and laughed. Abby watched him with a puzzled look on her face.
Looks like we have some baby proofing to do!

Happy Fourth of July! We are off at a cook out with the family today so stay tuned to pictures of Lincoln's first Fourth. Hopefully I will be able to stuff his chub into the nine month onesie we bought him months ago to wear today and fingers crossed it still fits :) I have lots of June garden bloom pictures to share so I thought I better get them up since it's already the first week in July. The summer is starting to fly by.
This is a good year for the garden. The rain has been coming at a good pace to keep the flower hydrated with minimal intervention and most of the plants are really thriving. We did some rearranging at the beginning of the season and everything that was moved is doing well. We moved the rose and it still hasn't fully recovered with any blooms but it has growth on it and based on past experience from moving it I know it won't really do anything until next season. The other big changes me made was dividing our massive hydrangea. The trauma of the transplant combined with the harsh winter means we won't see any blooms on it this year but it looks very healthy and I look forward to seeing how it looks next summer.
But on to what's actually been blooming lately.
These Stella de Oro day lilies are really thriving this year. I can't believe how big they are now. I have two really close together and I am contemplating moving one to the other side of the garden but I'm not touchhing them while they are looking so spectacular right now.
This moonbeam coreopsis is so enormous now. I moved it two summers ago and I nearly killed it but it really recovered.
I have two kinds of astlibe in the garden. I'm not sure what the varieties are but the white ones bloom first and the pink one blooms weeks later. The pink one has struggled in the past two years to bloom fully but it looks fantastic this year.
Love these Tiger Lilies. I wish they bloomed longer.
I always love how the purple coneflower looks when it is starting to bloom. This one still has lots of unopened buds on it.

I am not in love with this picture of myself but it's all I've got to share right now so here it is. I haven't found the time to take a picture in a couple of weeks so this outfit pic was taken a little while ago. My mornings are never long enough and pretty much the second I get home I want to reconnect with my boy whom I missed all day long. Then all the layers of my work outfit start coming off immediately starting with the necklace I am wearing, so I am not strangled, and then the cardigan I may be wearing, so it is not slobbered on by a drooly teething mouth.
Let me say something about how much I love these new pants I got from Target. I hate to talk about this problem I have right now but I have gotten super skinny from my continued nursing. I know poor me but none of my pants fit any more and I am having trouble finding pants that fit in a smaller size. The adult women's clothes world is not made for skinny women and I have no desire to invest in expensive pants that I probably won't fit into when I return to my non nursing weight. I bought a couple of pairs of pants from Loft since they are always going on sale but currently all their skinny dress pants don't have belt loops and without being able to cinch the waist they won't last as long if I lose any more weight.
So enter these Target Merona pants. I saw them online and was excited to find them in the store so I could try them on. The color selection was only black and navy but online offered more colors. I also tried on this Mossimo pair but, with Mike's input, decided I liked the fit and fabric of the Merona pair a little better. They are super similar to the pair I have from Loft except they have belt loops and they are priced lower. I bought the first pair with a coupon in store and I ordered a tan pair last week when there was a buy one get one 50% off sale on all clothes.
The Mossimo pair is also a great pair with more colors available. The material was a little bit stretchier and it came in an ankle and longer length. I was pretty impressed with how nice both pairs were for Target and they both got good reviews online.
These shoes are also from Target. They are surprisingly comfortable for a heeled pump but since I'm debating on returning them since I find myself wanting to wear flats more often now at my new job. I think they are super cute and were very affordable. I ordered some other shoes online that I am waiting to try out so I will see what makes the cut or if I still need to do some more searching. I may have to check out some Fourth of July sales too.
